Hikaru 18T (PB8227), or “Huck” as we affectionately call him, is a 99.2% Wagyu “purebred” bull with an outstanding pedigree. His pedigree is made up exclusively of rare and highly-sought-after Red Wagyu bloodlines plus Mazda (a highly regarded, high marbling Black Wagyu) in the background of the pedigree. 100% of his Wagyu DNA is from 5 famous Wagyu sires including Hikari, Rueshaw, Judo, Shigemaru and Mazda. All of his Wagyu DNA is Red Wagyu except 0.78% of his total DNA, which is Black Wagyu from the famous Mazda bull. He has been a widely used bull for production of F1 Red Wagyu at Rocking 711 Ranch since 2013, and he has sired hundreds of outstanding calves for us. His calves grow rapidly and to good size. He is super gentle, super easy keeping, and has extremely high libido. His weight varies between approximately 1,650 and 1,800 lbs. depending upon body condition. Red hide and homozygous red color genes. DNA SCD/Tenderness is AA/3.
The picture of the bone-in ribeye steak shown below is from an F1 steer sired by Huck and out of a commercial “Angus Plus” type (mostly Angus with some Brangus influence) cow that we use as an embryo receipient cow, and who was bred by Huck as the “cleanup bull” when the embryo we transferred to her did not take. This steer was harvested at 24 months of age after being on pasture with a small supplement of grain until 15 months of age and then spending the final 9 months on feed consisting of corn, brewers grain and 6-month-old+ hay. The marbling in this steak is representative of the type of marbling out of steer sired by Huck and out of a commercial cow “Angus Plus” type cow. We have found that the beef out of steers sired by Huck have the characteristic soft, buttery taste that Wagyu is famous for.
The pictures of Huck shown below were taken at 10 years of age, at which time he was still going strong breeding cows. We have modestly priced semen available on Huck, and we believe he makes a great sire for producing F1 Wagyu for those seeking a red colored sire.
